Connect your Google Calendar
Open My calendar: in the journal it is in the menu, and in the dashboard it is under Settings › My calendar. Press Connect Google Calendar, choose your Google account and allow access. That is all.
Your salon can also send you a connect link by e-mail. It works once and for 7 days, so you can connect even without a Boona login.
What you will see
Boona adds a separate calendar to your Google account, named after the salon (for example "Boona · Beauty Bar"). Your appointments appear there within a minute, and every change you or the salon make in Boona follows.
Change appointments in Boona, not in Google. If you move or rename an appointment in Google Calendar, Boona puts it back the way it is booked, because the client would not know about the change, and once a week it tells you by e-mail.
Your busy time closes online booking
- By default Boona reads your main calendar. With Choose calendars you can add others, such as a shared family calendar.
- When you are busy there, clients cannot book you online at that time. Boona reads only when you are busy, never what your events are.
- All-day events marked "busy" (a holiday, for example) close the whole day. All-day events marked "free" (birthdays) do not.
- The salon's journal shows the time as "Busy · Google", without any details.
- If something in your calendar overlaps an appointment that is already booked, you and the salon owner get an e-mail, so you can move one of them.
What an appointment shows in your calendar
You choose one of three levels: only "Booked"; the services and the client's first name; or everything (the client's name, phone and comment). The salon decides the most that its appointments may show, because client data belongs to the salon.
Disconnecting and reconnecting
Press Disconnect in My calendar at any time. Boona removes its calendar from your Google account and stops reading your busy time. If Google ever stops letting Boona in (for example, after you change your password), you get an e-mail and a Reconnect button.
The e-mails you may receive: when your calendar is connected, when it needs reconnecting, and when your busy time overlaps an appointment.
Apple Calendar, Outlook or Yandex
- Show my calendar link gives you a private address that your calendar app can subscribe to. It is view only. Google, Outlook and Yandex refresh subscribed calendars every few hours; Apple Calendar as often as you set it. Anyone with the link can see your appointments, so keep it to yourself; if it leaks, reset it.
- Close online booking when you are busy there: paste your calendar's public or secret link. In iCloud: Share Calendar → Public Calendar. In Outlook: Publish calendar → ICS. In Yandex: Export.
For salon owners
Under Settings › Google Calendar you see every master's state: connected, needs attention, or not connected.
- Send connect link e-mails a master a link that works once, for 7 days.
- Choose the most an appointment may show in your masters' calendars. Client details are your salon's data; each master can choose less.
- Connect the salon account: connect your own Google account, and Boona makes a calendar for every master who has not connected their own, so you can see the whole salon in Google Calendar.
Your privacy
Boona never reads what your events are, only when you are busy. Clients are never invited to your events and get nothing from Google. The salon's calendar is separate from yours, so you decide who in your family sees it. The details are in section 12 of our Privacy Policy.
